Recieved the formal offer letter today, which meant I had to quit my current job. I told my boss that I'll be leaving in a little over 2 weeks. After more than 6 years at the same company it was quite a wrench. Lots of mixed feelings today.

I ran 5 miles last week. The last time I ran 5 miles in a week, I was 15 years younger and 60lbs lighter. My feet are rebelling after yesterday's 2 mile tun, I think I might have bruised the outside of my left foot.

Feeling better today, went to the gym for my Saturday boxing lesson. It was crazy hot in the city so we rolled up the garage door and stood just inside those metal bars trying to get some air. P held pads and I gave them a good working over.

It felt a bit like a scene from 'Rocky', working out in a no nonsense boxing gym under the freeway, with the street and the dumpster right next to you, with a crazy boxing trainer yelling out combinations to throw and shouting things like 'Make him miss....you gotta make him miss before you make him pay'. Homeless people were walking past and shouting random words of encouragement as the sweat dripped and the punches flew.

Certainly a far cry from my 9 to 5 yuppie job behind a desk.

Something that first struck me when I moved to the states was fire hydrants.

We don't have them in England, so I'd only even seen them in the movies. Suddenly there they were, they really are on almost every street corner, dogs really do pee on them and you really do get parking tickets it you park in front of them (about the only parking ticket I've never recieved).

About a week ago someone put this Jack in the Box coke cup on the top of it at a jaunty angle, if you squint a bit it looks like a little man with a small head in a tall hat. Or at least it did at 9:30pm last night when I was walking home and realized I needed a picture.

My laptop unexpectedly bit the dust in January. I spent most of the evening rebuilding my iTunes collection on my new laptop.

I remember the first time I saw an iPod, it was 2001 and I thought it was the coolest device ever made. It seemed so small and so slick and so futuristic. This is my 2nd Generation 20Gb iPod. Which now looks big and clunky and out of date

Feel like T and I spent the entire day in Golden Gate Park. We walked to the Kezar Stadium and ran laps on their track. Then we walked across the park for lunch. On the way there's this cool tunnel that leads from the music concorse to the childrens playground. Becuase the sun was so bright it looked like a huge dark void with a childrens playground on the other end. This shot didn't come out quite as well as I'd hoped but I liked the shadows.

As you may have gathered from my stream Trish and I are attempting to lose weight. Today I counted every calorie and made 220 calories of room for one of these. They're mini Ben and Jerry's tubs. They're about 2" high and they come with a tiny little spoon in the lid.

Our biger dog and smallest cat (all 14 pounds of him) love to play together. Their favorite game, often instigated by the cat, starts with the cat lying on his back and daring the dog to try and get near him. The dog in turn tries to put the cats entire head in his mouth while avoiding getting bopped on the nose by the cats claws. This can last a good 10 minutes, but unfortunatly moves at such a fast pace it's almost impossible to photograph.

For the record the dog almost always comes off worst. Even when he does succeed in getting the cat's entire head in his jaws teeth resting on his throat (quite disturbing the first time you see it) the cat has never even been hurt. On the other hand the poor dog has been known to finish this game bloody.

As some of you may know, my New Years resolution was to get fit. So I've started taking boxing lessons. I took a few private lessons to get the hang of it and to build up my cardio but tonight was my first Monday night group class.

This isn't some Tae Bo cardio boxing class, a lot of these guys are real fighters and they hit hard. Just holding the pads was a real workout.

No energy to take a real photo, so these are my keys, with my new Fight and Fitness membership card.

Since I started working from home I've got a better picture of how our dogs spend their days while we're at work. It seems to be a perpetual search for the warmest most cofmfortable spot in which to sleep, punctuated by trying to kill the postman. Spoke to my sister this morning who was telling me about a humanist funeral she had recently been to and how uplifting it had been. Later T and I went for a walk around our neighborhood and I noticed this great copper lettering on the door of a funeral directors office.

The roses I bought T last week for V-day are wilting. They lasted about a week. That's what you get for buying flowers from the supermarket, no matter how good they looked at the time.

Worked from home on Thursday and got to worked to watch the Everton game. It's nice to watch a game live without having to get up at Silly O'Clock.

After played it over Christmas with my nephews, T bought me a copy of Guitar Hero for Valantines day. So much fun!

Well it was always going to happen sooner or later. I completely forgot to take a photo. I had all these plans of taking a cool self portrait since I haven't done one for project 365 yet, but I ended up stayinh in bed until the afternoon nursing a hangover. I decided it was getting late and I'd just take something quick and easy. Then T and I had an arguement, then we made up and decided to watch some TV in bed and I went to sleep without taking a photo for the first time since July 2007.

Since T was at the hospital on Thursday we decided to celebrate valentines day on Sunday (since Monday is a bank holiday). We got massages in the afternoon, and then went out for dinner and far to much wine.

Mark's Birthday. Met up with some friends at the bar before hand, drank Guiness, which in unusual for me, but it did come in this awesome retro glass which I'd never seen before. And it's day 200!!!!!
