The weather was great today. T and I went for a walk this afternoon outside a Jahovah's Witness church on Fulton St were these flowers in full bloom.
Inspired by Flickr's "Project 365" and my friend Kathy, I will attempt to post one picture per day for a year starting August 1st 2007. Sometimes the pictures will be artistic, sometimes they will be things that were important to me on that day and other times they will just be pictures of things I thought were funny. I am sure a lot of poorly shot, poorly composed photos will be taken, but hopefully so will one or two great ones.

#160 Back To Work
Monday Jan 7th. For most of Italy this is the first day back at work after the Christmas break. I was struck by how different the river traffic was on a weekday morning from a Sunday afternoon.

#159 Murano
700 years ago Venice was the world leader in glass making, and remained that way for hundreds of years. In the 13th century all of the glass makers were forced to move out of Venice becuase of the risk of fire, and were all moved acros the lagoon to the Island of Murano. Murano's principle industry is still glass making although now it's mostly to sell to tourists like us. We wandered off the main drag and I was struck by the colors and the textures of the buildings.

#158 Venice
Our first full day in Venice. We spent a lot of the day just wandering at random through the city. Tiny alleys and over more bridges than I can count. We still managed to hit a bunch of the big tourist sights but since it was out of season everything was refreshingly quiet.

#157 Hotel
Flew to Italy today. It was dark by the time we checked in to the hotel so I couldn't snap pictures of the view from our window. Loveley hotel right acros from the water bus stop on the island of Lido.

#156 New Shoes
Was sick as a dog, the closest I've come to fogetting to take a photo. These are some new shoes I bought in England that I packed to wear in Italy. Once I got there I realised that miles of walking combined with new shoes was a bad idea and never took them out of the suitcase.

#155 Avenue Q Number Two!
We bought my sister and brother-in-law tickets to see Avenue Q in London for Christmas. The 4 of us had a great night. I'm not really into musiclas but this was amazing, even the second time around.
