Inspired by Flickr's "Project 365" and my friend Kathy, I will attempt to post one picture per day for a year starting August 1st 2007. Sometimes the pictures will be artistic, sometimes they will be things that were important to me on that day and other times they will just be pictures of things I thought were funny. I am sure a lot of poorly shot, poorly composed photos will be taken, but hopefully so will one or two great ones.

#031 New Jeans

070831 013, originally uploaded by AXO - 365.

T has been nagging me for a while to get rid of all my ratty old jeans and buy some new ones. Today she pointed out that the homeless guy in the park had nicer denim in his shopping cart than I had in my entire wardrobe. So we went to Mervins and there was a sale on 501s so I bought a bunch in different colors. I am now set for the next 5 to 7 years.

There was this freaky looking cloud formation for an hour or so today, it was almost a perfect square.

#029 UCSF

Today my research partner B and I had a meeting with uber researcher Susan Fisher at UCSF. We showed her the work we've done on our Masters Thesis project and got some good feedback. There are some full on 'Mad Scientest' rooms in this place, and a wall of fridges with 'BIOHAZZARD' stickers on them. If you were an arch enemy in a James Bond movie and wanted to clone yourself, these would be the people you'd kidnap to do it!

#028 Roots!

These appeared in out courtyard today. I had no idea what they were at first, but after a quick search of the internet it appears that one of our neighbors is growing their own avocado trees from scratch. I had no idea you could do that! For instructions on how grow your own click here

#027 Green Apple

070827-2, originally uploaded by AXO - 365.

Green Apple Books is an amazing used bookstore in our neighborhood. T needed to buy a book for her book club, so we walked down there this evening. T and I have a love/hate relationship with this place. In many ways I LOVE that it's not just another Borders or Barns & Nobel carrying the same stuff that you can buy in every generic mid-west strip-mall. I love the history and the character of the place and will happily pay more for a book here rather than buy it on amazon. On the other hand, it drives me CRAZY that their employees don't know where any of the books are, and since they refuse to computerize their used book inventory, they never know what they have in stock, so you spend 20 minutes looking in 3 different sections for a book that they haven't had on the shelf for 3 months.

#026 Some Assembly Required

I put together my new desk this afternoon. This is one of the legs, with the cardboard box in the background.
